Scrittore inglese (Ham Hill, Worcester, 1870 - Lancing, Sussex, 1945). Fu direttore della rivista Academy (1907-10). Ha scritto eleganti sonetti (The city of the soul, 1899; Sonnets, 1909; Complete poems, 1928; Sonnets and lyrics, 1935) e alcuni volumi di "nonsense verse" (Tales with a twist, 1896; The placid pug, 1906; The pongo papers 1907). The true history of Shakespeare's sonnets (1933). Nel 1940 pubblicò Oscar Wilde, a summing up.
