Rifkin, Jeremy. – Economista statunitense (n. Denver 1943). È il fondatore e presidente della Foundation on Economic Trends (FoET), nata nel 1977 per studiare l’impatto che le innovazioni scientifiche e tecnologiche hanno sull'economia, la società e l’ambiente. Negli anni Sessanta del 20° sec. ha partecipato al movimento pacifista ed è stato tra i promotori della Citizens Commission, creata (1969) allo scopo di portare alla luce i crimini di guerra commessi dalle truppe statunitensi in Vietnam. Considerato come uno dei maggiori analisti della società postfordista, è attivo come ambientalista e consulente per le politiche ambientali della Commissione e del Parlamento europei.
