Scrittore inglese (n. Cardiff 1949). Autore di best seller dall'abile costruzione narrativa, ha raggiunto notorietà nel 1978 con Storm Island (La cruna dell'ago), spy story ambientata durante la seconda guerra mondiale. Nel corso degli anni ha saputo sviluppare uno stile fatto di avventura, puntuale ricostruzione storica, spionaggio e thriller.
