We've Reached the Gay Marriage Tipping Point

Nico Lang, Rolling Stone It was the non-decision heard 'round the world: In early October, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear appellate court cases from Utah, Indiana, Oklahoma, Virginia, Wisconsin and Indiana, all of which had previously ruled in favor of same-sex marriage rights. The decision was soon followed with marriage bans struck down in Colorado, Nevada, Alaska and Idaho, although Idaho was granted a temporary stay on same-sex marriages in the state. Wyoming, North Carolina, West Virginia, and Arizona have also joined the wave.

Obama Endorses "Chicago Way" of Voting

John Fund, National Review President Obama took time from his party fundraising duties in Chicago on Monday to vote early in the Illinois election. “I’m so glad I can early vote. It’s so exciting. I love voting,” he said. But what Obama and his fellow Illinois Democrats love most is voting “the Chicago Way.” That involves bending every rule in the book, appointing compliant election judges, and looking the other way when some of Chicago s notorious voter fraud occurs behind the curtain.

Ebola Hysteria Fever: A Real Epidemic

Dean Baker, Huffington Post Thus far, the Ebola virus has infected three people in the United States that we know of; however, Ebola hysteria seems to have infected somewhere close to 300 million. People in many areas are not going to work and others are driving cars rather than taking mass transit because they fear catching Ebola from fellow passengers. There are also reports of people staying away from stores, restaurants, and other public places in order to avoid the deadly plague.

What the Ebola Experts Miss

Bret Stephens, Wall Street Journal Of course we should ban all nonessential travel from Liberia, Guinea, Sierra Leone and any other country badly hit by the Ebola virus. The lesson of the crisis so far isn’t that this protocol rather than that one should have been used in a Dallas hospital, or that the Centers for Disease Control needs better leadership, or more money, or sharper focus, or all of the above. It’s not even about Ron Klain ’s intriguing qualifications as Ebola czar.
