Psicologo statunitense di origine austriaca (Vienna 1903 - Silver Spring 1990); emigrato (1939) negli USA, insegnò nell'univ. di Chicago. È noto per le sue tecniche nel trattamento dei bambini con disturbi emotivi e per la sua analisi degli aspetti psicologici del pregiudizio razziale. Tra le sue opere: Dynamics of prejudice (con Morris Janowitz, 1950), Love is not enough (1950, trad. it. 1967), Symbolic wounds.
