Close, Glenn

Attrice cinematografica statunitense (n. Greenwich 1947). Dopo la laurea, ha esordito come attrice teatrale a Broadway nel 1974. Negli anni Settanta ha anche lavorato in televisione prima di interpretare il suo primo ruolo cinematografico nel 1982 con The world according to Garp. È stata protagonista di The big chill (1983), The natural (Il migliore, 1984), Jagged edge (Doppio taglio, 1985), Maxie (1985), Fatal attraction (1987), Dangerous liaisons (1988), Reversal of fortune (Il mistero von Bulow, 1990), Hamlet (1990), Meeting Venus (Tentazione di Venere, 1991), The house of the spirits (1993), The paper (Cronisti d'assalto, 1994), 101 dalmatians (La carica dei 101, 1996), Mary Reilly (1996), Mars attacks! (1996), Paradise road (1997), Air Force One (1997), Cookie's fortune (1999), Things you can tell just by looking at her (2000), The safety of objects (2001), Le divorce (2003), The Stepford Wives (2004), Nine lives (2005); Evening (2007). Interprete dal 2007 della serie televisiva Damages, doppiatrice per la TV dei Simpson (1995-2008) e nel 2011 del film di animazione Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil, nello stesso anno è tornata alla recitazione cinematografica nella pellicola drammatica Albert Nobbs, cui hanno fatto seguito, tra le altre, Guardians of the galaxy (2014), The girl with all the gifts (2016), tutte nel 2017, Crooked House, What happened to Monday? e The Wife - Vivere nell'ombra, che le è valso il Golden globe 2019 come migliore attrice drammatica, e Hillbilly Elegy (Elegia americana, 2020).
