Dobson, Henry Austin

Poeta ed erudito inglese (Plymouth 1840 - Ealing 1921). Scrisse versi graziosi ed eleganti (Vignettes in Rhyme, 1873; At the sign of the lyre, 1885; ecc.), ma è ricordato soprattutto come studioso del Settecento inglese e autore di biografie (Hogarth, 1879; Fielding, 1883; Thomas Bewick and his pupils, 1884; Steele, 1886;Oliver Goldsmith, 1888; Horace Walpole, 1890; Samuel Richardson, 1902; Fanny Burney, 1903) e numerosi saggi (Eighteenth-Century Vignettes, 1892-96).
