Winterson, Jeanette

Maria Stella

Forster award dell'American Academy of Arts and Letters.

A piece for three voices and a bawd (1994; trad. it. 1996) inscena un surreale incontro-scontro teorico tra Händel, Picasso e Saffo.

W. è autrice anche della guida alternativa Fit for the future. The guide for women who want to live well (1986), del radiodramma Static (1988), dei saggi critici Art objects. Essays on ecstasy and effrontery (1995), in cui espone le sue teorie sull'arte, rivelando l'influenza di V. Woolf e G. Stein. Tra le sue pubblicazioni più recenti, il romanzo Gut symmetries (1997; trad. it. 1998), storia di un triangolo bisessuale tra fisici e poeti su un transatlantico, e la raccolta di racconti The world and other places (1998; trad. it. 2000).
