Teologo e biblista tedesco (Dresda 1900 - Gottinga 1979), dal 1929 prof. all'univ. di Greifswald (Pomerania), dal 1935 a Gottinga. Ha studiato principalmente i caratteri del giudaismo palestinese, la storia di Gesù e le origini della Chiesa cristiana.
